By cooperating with SKC Group to build a PBAT factory in Hai Phong, An Phat Holdings expects to contribute to diversifying the supply of PBAT raw materials globally and achieving sustainable development goals.
On May 11, Ecovance Vietnam, a subsidiary of SKC, a South Korean chemicals and materials manufacturer under SK Group, held a groundbreaking ceremony to build a plant producing biodegradable materials PBAT (Polybutylene Adipate Terephthlate) at the Dinh Vu industrial park in the northern port city of Hai Phong.
With a sustainable development strategy, An Phat Holdings – the leading high-tech and environmentally friendly plastic group in Southeast Asia, through its subsidiary, PBAT An Phat, has invested in Ecovance Vietnam, with the aim of achieving the goal of building an environmentally friendly material ecosystem, joining hands to solve plastic pollution globally.
“Cooperating with SKC to build the PBAT biodegradable plastic factory is a strategic step to achieve the sustainable development goals set by the Group. Through this project, we expect that An Phat Holdings will contribute to diversifying the supply of PBAT raw materials globally, realizing green development goals, bringing net emissions to ‘zero’ that the Vietnamese government has committed to the world”, said a representative of An Phat Holdings.
The project has an annual production capacity of 70,000 tons of PBAT. According to the plan, in the first phase, about 100 million USD will be invested to build the factory with a total area of 32,000 m2. In the third quarter of 2025, the project is expected to come into official operation. At the same time, Ecovance Vietnam is also ready for investment to expand on a global scale, by increasing the land fund for further investment.
Along with investing in Ecovance Vietnam, PBAT An Phat also signed a contract to purchase part of the PBAT factory’s products in the long term, to ensure the supply of green materials for the production of An Phat Holdings’ green products and to be able to expand the distribution of green materials. in the domestic market.
“As one of the first and leading enterprises in Vietnam producing biodegradable products, we expect that, with the available supply of PBAT produced in Hai Phong, An Phat Holdings will be able to shortening import time as well as reducing raw material costs, thereby lowering the cost of green products, so that this product line can reach a large number of consumers in Vietnam in particular and the world in general”, a representative of An Phat Holdings noted.
Through cooperation with SKC, An Phat Holdings hopes to go further in the journey of bringing “made-in-Vietnam” green products to customers around the world.
